Illustration & Me...
I am an artist based in Yorkshire but with clients across the country and with a particular focus on museums and heritage sites. I have many years practical experience working in museums and know the value of high quality imagery to help set the scene and tell a story. With all my work, it is that element of storytelling that I want to bring to the forefront, with a sense of warmth, character and clarity. Each project, however small, is an opportunity to develop your story and create a unique identity. To enable this, I always bear certain things in mind.
CommunicationCommunication is absolutely the most important thing about any illustration project. In order to clearly communicate the story to your audience, I like to build a good rapport with you.
I am comfortable talking to academics, archaeologists, authors and educators and always do my best to tailor my style and approach to best suit the needs of the audience and situation. Whether you are looking for accurate reconstructions, or family friendly mascots for a trail, I will consider conveying your story and your message to be the most important part of the project. |
CharacterDeveloping a style that suits your unique needs is very important. I like to take my time developing sketches to show potential options so that the unique feel that you require can be brought to the forefront.
I use pen and ink as the basis of all of my drawings to retain the warmth and personality of traditional artwork. Whether you have a single image or a full comic strip I ensure that it will be brimming with personality and detail specific to your needs. |
PracticalityI aim to provide a practical and adaptable service. Your illustration might need to be used in a variety of contexts and in different ways.
By using vectors, it is simple to adjust scale and colour with no loss of quality. I want the final product to be as useful as possible and my process allows for plenty of flexibility. I take the time to understand your specific needs and tailor the product so that each illustration will work hard for you. |
